Installation

Visit the Chrome Web Store, Firefox Add-ons or Edge Add-ons
Click Add to Browser and confirm the permissions
Pin the extension icon to your toolbar so the side panel is always one click away

Supported AI Sites

ChatGPT, Claude, Copilot, DeepSeek, Doubao, Gemini, Grok, Kimi, Mistral, Perplexity, Poe, Qwen, Yuanbao and Z.ai.

All of these sites are free to use. Where one brand runs both a regional and an international service (Qwen, for example), the two share a single entry, and clicking the site icon opens whichever address matches your interface language.

How to Take a Screenshot

ChatShot offers three ways to capture. With each of them, the image is copied to your clipboard or saved as a file, depending on your export setting. Open How to Use in the bottom-left corner of the side panel home page for an illustrated walkthrough of all three.

Right-click

Open an AI site you have enabled, then start or open a conversation
Right-click the page and choose Capture Q&A
In the list of questions that appears, tick the Q&A pairs to capture; the latest one is already ticked
Click Capture or press Enter

When you tick several pairs, adjacent ones are joined into a single stretch and the unticked content between the others is left out, all in one image. Shift-click to tick a whole range at once.

Keyboard shortcut

On a conversation page, press Alt+Shift+S (Option+Shift+S on a Mac) to open the same list of questions, then press Enter to capture the latest Q&A pair straight away. To change it, click the keys shown next to the shortcut switch under Features.

Quick button

In the side panel, go to Settings → Features, turn on Enable quick button and grant site access when asked. After you reload the conversation page, a translucent ChatShot icon button appears to the right of each prompt; click it to capture that question-and-answer pair.

Hovering over the button reveals three more actions on its right:

Capture by selection — a checkbox icon that opens the list of questions so you can tick any of them
Capture N pairs downward — a plus icon that captures N Q&A pairs starting from the current one; hover it to adjust N with the up and down arrows
Capture to the last pair — captures everything from the current Q&A pair to the end of the conversation

Long Content Handling

When the capture area runs past one screen, ChatShot scrolls and stitches the parts into a single full-length image — no manual intervention required.

Managing Sites

Click the ChatShot icon in your toolbar to open the side panel, and click it again to close. The home page lists every supported AI site, with the enabled count and the total shown next to the heading:

Each site has its own toggle; turning one off removes the context menu item and the capture button on that site only, leaving the others untouched
Click the icon to the left of a site name to open that site directly

Screenshot History

The Screenshot History card on the side panel home page keeps your latest screenshots, stored only on your device:

Click a thumbnail to view it larger, or copy it to the clipboard, download it or delete it right there
The count next to the heading shows how many are kept and the limit; Delete all clears them in one go
1 screenshot is kept by default, and Pro keeps 3, 5 or 10. Change the number or turn history off under Features

Settings

General

Language — Follow System / English / 简体中文 / 日本語
Theme — Follow system / Light / Dark

Features

Enable context menu — Shows “Capture Q&A” in the right-click menu on supported sites. On by default
Enable shortcut — Opens the list of questions when you press the shortcut. On by default. The current keys appear next to it; click them to change the shortcut
Enable quick button — Shows a capture button beside every prompt. Off by default; turning it on requires site access

At least one of these three ways to capture stays on: when only one is left, its switch can't be turned off.

Export method — Copy to clipboard (default) or save as a file
Image format — PNG (default) or JPG. The clipboard only supports PNG, so JPG applies to downloads
Download file name — Build the file name from the site name, date and time, and use "/" to save into a subfolder. Applies to downloads
Screenshot history — How many screenshots to keep on your device: Off, 1 (default), or 3, 5 or 10 (Pro)
Label content — Whether the site label in the top-left corner shows the site name and the time; with neither selected, no label is shown
Label time format — 12 date and time formats to choose from; unavailable while the label doesn't show the time
Remove watermark (Pro) — Export images with no product watermark
Answers only — Leave out the prompts and keep only the answers, with a dashed line between answers. Off by default
Scroll-aware capture — Capture as much as possible of horizontally scrollable areas such as wide tables and long lines of code. On by default

What the Image Looks Like

The result is a white-background image with padding on all sides: the site label sits in the top-left corner (the site name and capture time, as set), and the ChatShot watermark in the bottom-right.

Troubleshooting

"Capture Q&A" is missing from the context menu

Check that Enable context menu is turned on under Features
Check that the current site is enabled on the side panel home page
You can also use the keyboard shortcut instead

The keyboard shortcut does nothing

Check that Enable shortcut is turned on under Features
The shortcut may not have been assigned because it clashes with another extension. Check the current shortcut in the How to Use section on the side panel home page and set it again

Capture button not appearing

The quick button is off by default. Turn it on under Features and grant site access
Check that the current site is enabled on the side panel home page
Reload the conversation page after turning it on

Screenshot is incomplete

Make sure the page has fully loaded before taking a screenshot
Do not manually scroll the page while a screenshot is in progress
For horizontally scrollable content such as wide tables and long lines of code, check that Scroll-aware capture is turned on under Features

Chose JPG but got a PNG

The clipboard only supports PNG. Switch the export method to download when you need a JPG
