Installation

Visit Firefox Add-ons
Click Add to Firefox and confirm the permissions
Pin the extension icon to your toolbar so the side panel is always one click away

How It Works

On supported AI sites, the moment reasoning or thinking content appears, HideThoughts collapses or expands it according to the behavior you set for that site — no more clicking it away yourself. Collapsed content is never lost: you can expand it on the page at any time to read the full thought process.

Opening the Side Panel

Click the HideThoughts icon in the toolbar to open the side panel, and click it again to close. Three navigation items sit at the bottom of the panel: Home, Upgrade, and Settings.

Supported Sites

The home page lists all currently supported sites:

Claude (Pro)
Poe (Pro)

Click a site icon to open that site in a new background tab. More sites are coming soon.

Enabling Sites and Setting Behavior

Every site is off by default and has to be enabled manually:

Click the toggle on the right of a site to enable it
Once enabled, a behavior dropdown appears to the left of the toggle, with three options:
- Hide (default) — reasoning content is collapsed as soon as it appears
- Show — reasoning content is expanded as soon as it appears
- Default — keep the site's own default behavior

Changes take effect immediately, with no page reload needed. Sites marked Pro require an upgrade before they can be enabled; upgrading unlocks every Pro site as well as the sites added later.

Syncing Across Devices

HideThoughts can sync your per-site settings, feature options, and theme and language preferences to a storage of your own, so several computers share one set of settings.

Go to Settings → Storage and follow the three steps to fill in your S3-compatible storage details (bucket, endpoint, access credentials); once the test passes, turn syncing on. When you save the configuration, the browser asks whether to allow access to that storage domain — syncing only works once you allow it. The credentials stay on this device and are never uploaded anywhere.

Without a storage configured, everything stays on this device and no feature is affected.

Features

Remove Thought Block — when enabled, the reasoning content is removed from the page entirely instead of just being collapsed; only applies when the behavior is set to "Hide"

FAQ

Reasoning content is not hidden

Confirm that the site's toggle is on and the behavior is set to "Hide"
After installing the extension, refresh any AI site pages that were already open
An AI site redesign may break it temporarily; a later release will fix it

Existing reasoning content doesn't change after switching behavior

Give it a moment — content already on screen is readjusted to the new behavior
If nothing changes, refresh the page and try again

The site toggle won't turn on

Sites marked Pro can only be enabled after upgrading

Settings don't match after switching devices

Confirm both devices have syncing turned on and point at the same bucket
Syncing pulls on a fixed rhythm, so a setting you just changed may take a moment to show up on the other device
